When to use it
Use escrow when you are ready to set money aside for one seller: a vehicle purchase, a property closing, goods, or services. Each hold has a reference code, a merchant name, a purpose, and an amount. You can add the merchant’s email and a note such as an invoice or property description.
How the money moves
- You deposit funds into your available balance after identity verification.
- You open an escrow. If the balance covers the amount, it is funded immediately and your available balance drops by that amount.
- If the balance is short, the escrow waits. You can fund it later or cancel it before it is funded. Cancelling an unfunded escrow does not move money.
- A funded escrow can be released to the merchant or refunded to your balance. Only our team can settle a funded hold.
What you see in the dashboard
The Escrow page shows your available balance, the total currently held, and each agreement with its status: awaiting funds, held, released, refunded, or cancelled. A release does not increase your balance, because the money already left it when the hold was funded. A refund puts the amount back.
What escrow is not
Opening an escrow does not pay the merchant at that moment. It also does not replace a financing application. If you need a loan rather than a hold, use financing. The rules for cancellation, release, and refunds are in the Terms of Service.
